Hello Africa
Recently, Sunday an Entertainer from Hello Africa came to visit our Kindyland Centres! This was a fun, exciting and interactive experience with Pre Kindy, Jnr Kindy and Kindergarten all becoming involved.
We learnt about how in the African Jungle they don’t have power, plastic or taps and therefore, Sunday demonstrated to the children what they do instead of watching tv, playing iPads and computer games; they come together with their family and friends, and they play music on instruments that they construct from forest materials, such as logs, sticks and vines; an insightful cultural experience.
Firstly, the children heard Sunday sing and tell them some African words and lines from the songs he sings before asking the children to hop up and be involved with playing on drums using their hands and sticks as well as stroking vine covered bongos and dancing. The children had an energetic opportunity to explore the diversity of another culture, the heritage, background and traditions and learnt that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings.
