Let’s Talk Harbour Town Kindyland
Located on the northern end of the Gold Coast, Harbour Town Kindyland offers a nurturing and stimulating environment where there is a genuine focus on the care of each child.
Taking great pride in creating a homelike environment, Harbour Town Kindland provides a welcoming atmosphere enabling children and families to feel a sense of belonging and ownership – this is their centre, and they are an integral part of it.
The Harbour Town Centre values teamwork and encourages collaboration amongst educators. Supporting and respecting each other, the team are equally committed to the program, the children and each other, valuing diversity as it strengthens the centre’s approach to supporting all families within the surrounding community.
In supporting our community, we offer a free Play Group for families every second Wednesday morning. Everyone is welcome and it is a great opportunity for your children to become involved with the activities and play while giving parents a chance to relax and meet others in the local community.
Like all the Kindyland Centres, there is an ongoing focus on natural environments. At Harbour Town Kindyland, the outdoor area is like a secluded oasis and quite a hidden surprise to those visiting for the first time.
The generous sized outdoor area is sheltered between the centre and the adjoining swim academy without any street frontage. It offers a private engaging environment with gardens accessible to the children, a mud kitchen, bike track, fixed and modular climbing equipment as well as 2 sandpits and swings.
Environmental sustainability and care for the environment is embedded throughout the centre’s program, with the children actively engaged in recycling water; adding food scraps to their worm farm and caring for the various trees, vegetables and bush tucker plants they have throughout their natural space.
The established trees surrounding the centre offer shade and also an abundance of natural resources which become integrated into the children’s art and craft creations.
In addition to the main outdoor yard, the centre has smaller engaging spaces for the junior kindergarten which offers opportunities and experiences specific to their needs.
Unique to the centre is a large covered outdoor courtyard accessible to all main rooms. This area provides an ideal atmosphere for indoor/outdoor activities and opportunities for outdoor learning during all weather conditions.
The centre’s outdoor courtyard is also well utilised during outside school hours care and vacation care programmes.
The principals of Reggio Emilia influence Harbour Town’s educational philosophy. This system is quite evident in all spaces with thoughtful displays honouring children’s creativity and interests as well as the use of provocations to inspire learning.
Valuing the benefits that providing a range of natural and loose parts bring to children’s development, the centre has great pride in supporting the active little learners to manipulate their environment, encouraging them to facilitate opportunities for creativity and problem solving, which in turn, drives our centre’s philosophy.
Robyn Pointing who has 28 years experience in the early education sector, together with Trish Wright who has been with Kindyland for close to 30 years share the role of Nominated Supervisors at Harbour Town Kindyland and Harbour Town Babyland.
Together their combined years of experience has created a strong leadership team which supports the dual roles they both hold within Kindyland Kids. Their roles; Trish also working as Operations Manager and Robyn as Program and Practice Manager, complement and support their commitment to not only their team and families at Harbour Town but to all within the Kindyland Kids family.
